Monkey Rally Wooden Game
All the Monkeys start out at the same time and try to be the first to climb their palm tree. Choose your next move carefully, because there's always a possibility that the monkey slips on his way to the palm leaves! Which monkey is the fastest to reach the hidden coconuts?
This sturdy wooden based game will last the test of time. To set the game board up each player inserts one of the coloured sticks into one of the base holes on the board with its black end at the bottom. Then two clips are attached to each of the sticks in the black area. One monkey is slid onto each stick and the palm leaves are at at the top.
The first player rolls the die to decide where to move their clip. This is done by moving the monkey figure up a little with your hand until the colour that was rolled is visible then the clip is attached, and the monkey is left there. Once the monkey has climbed up the coloured stick quite far, the player can decide whether to move the lower clip instead of the upper clip to secure the figure. If the colour black is rolled, the upper clip must be removed and placed back on the lower black starting field and the monkey falls. The second clip would soften such a fall a little. If the colour white is rolled the player can decide whether to push both clips up one field or to continue to roll until another colour is rolled.
The first player to reach the palm leaves with his monkey wins the game. Ages 4yrs+.
This game can be played by children from three years of age by making it less complicated and using only one clip per player. If the colour black is thrown the child needs to move two spaces back.
