The Number Game is a tactile, hands‑on maths resource designed to support early learners in developing a clear understanding of addition and subtraction concepts. Using a combination of coloured, numbered, dotted, and symbol counters, children physically build equations, making abstract mathematical ideas concrete and meaningful.

Through active manipulation of counters, children create simple addition and subtraction equations while learning to recognise mathematical symbols (+, −, =). This multi‑sensory approach encourages children to engage both physically and verbally with mathematical operations, strengthening understanding and retention.

Ideal for early learning classrooms, the Number Game supports play‑based, guided, and independent learning, while promoting confidence and enjoyment in early mathematics. Box measures 33.5 x 23 x 7.5cm. Ages 3yrs+.

Key Educational Benefits

  • Concrete Representation of Mathematical Operations: Counters provide a visual and tactile way for children to model addition and subtraction, making abstract concepts accessible.
  • Enhances Number Sense: Manipulating quantities helps children understand numbers, their relationships, and how they change through mathematical operations.
  • Supports Symbol Recognition: Children become familiar with key maths symbols (+, −, =) by using them within meaningful equations.
  • Encourages Multi‑Sensory Learning: Coloured, numbered, and dotted counters engage visual, tactile, and kinaesthetic learners.
  • Develops Early Problem‑Solving Skills: Creating and adjusting equations encourages logical thinking and experimentation.
  • Builds Mathematical Language: Children naturally use terms such as add, subtract, equal, more, and fewer during play.
  • Promotes Engagement and Focus: Hands‑on materials keep children motivated and actively involved in learning.
  • Supports Differentiated Learning: Suitable for individual work, small groups, or educator‑led activities, with challenges easily adjusted to skill level.
